S 0172
Pregnant Women In Custody
Would require jails to tell every woman booked into custody that she can request a pregnancy test. If she hasn't been released within 72 hours, the test must be given. Courts would also have to weigh pregnancy-related factors before ordering a woman to begin serving her sentence. The bill died in committee.
